Malawian granny ‘rapist’ demands DNA test: ‘Sperms are not mine’

A 19-year-old boy in Malawi’s northern border district of Karonga, who is answering charges of raping 84 year-old grandmother, is pushing for DNA tests to ascertain whether the sperms found on the granny’s private parts are indeed his.

Court documents identify the boy as Mickson Kayera of Mweningoongo village Traditional Authority Mwakaboko in Karonga and the victim [name shielded] comes from the same village.

According to the documents the incident happened during the night of June17, 2013 when the boy is allegedly broken into the old woman’s house where he sexually assaulted the granny and indecently touching her private parts without her consent.GRANNY'S RAPE

“The woman reported the case to the surrounding neighbors the following morning which led to the arrest of the boy,” prosecutor told the court.

Medical report from Iponga Health Centre confirmed that the women was indeed raped and referred the case to Karonga District Hospital for further investigations.

The accused denied the allegations and has pleaded “not guilty” to a charge of rape.

Meanwhile, the court has adjourned the case awaiting the boy’s witnesses.
