Malawi’s only flag carrier disqualified at Paralympic Games
Malawi’s sole ambassador at the on-going Paralympic Games, Taonere Banda, has been disqualified.
According to coach George Luhanga,Taonere was due to compete in the 1,500 metres heats on Thursday in the Games that are taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Authorities disqualified Banda in the heat one of round one in the event.
It is suspected that Banda was disqualufed after failing to adhere to the International Paralympics Committee (IPC) competition rules.
Kenyani Henry Nzungi, Nelly Nasimiyu, together with her guide Richard Karuri were disqualified in round one of heat two which was won by Izaskun Ayicar of Spain in 4.49.99.
