Malawi’s Kayuni vies for African Boxing Union title

Malawian boxer Osgood Kayuni will fight a Ugandan opponent Solomon Bogoro for the African Boxing Union (ABU) junior welterweight title in Kampala, Uganda on November 19.

However, the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) boxer left the country Sunday by road accompanied by another boxer Chimwemwe Chiotcha without the blessings of Malawi Boxing Association (Maba) and his employers .

Chiotcha will be his corner man while renowned Tanzanian boxing promoter Omari Yazidu, who married a Malawian wife, is also part of the team.

Kayuni: To vie for ABU

The bout will provide a stern test for Kayuni, the once fierce pugilist who has lost his last two bouts.

He has fought 26, with 22 wins, and one draw while his Ugandan opponent who will also have home support advantage boasts 11 wins 10 knockouts and two draws and one loss.
