Malawi’s Ng’ambi on target despite Platinum loss

Platinum Stars failed to outshine Mamelodi Sundowns after going down 3-1 in the PSL League on Tuesday but Malawian international midfielder scored the consolation goal.

Sundowns took the league to the Stars as they led the first half by two goals through Surprise Moriri and Anthony Laffor.

The ‘Brazilians’ completed the rout with another goal in the second half scored by Lebohang Mokoena in the 78thminute.

The Malawian star rose to the occasion to score the only goal for his team in the 80th minute but it was a case of too little and late as the game ended 3-1.

Free Stars coach Freese blamed the loss on his team defensive lapses.

The loss coming after a goalless draw has put the Platinum under pressure to emulate their last season’s performance in which they finished on second position to Kaizer Chiefs.

The team lie on position eight from 22 games with 32 points in the 16-team league.

On the hand Sundowns delighted in the victory as it took them to within three points to catch up with league leaders Kaizer Chiefs who have 46 points from 23 games.
