Man from US found dead in Lilongwe hotel room

Police in Lilongwe have confirmed the sudden death of Alfred Clarence Drew, 82, who was found dead on October 28 at Lilongwe hotel.

Public Relation Officer, Ramsey Mushani said Drew arrived from the United State of America on October 7 and booked a room at the Hotel.

“However, on October 28, 2013 he was discovered dead in his room,” said Mushani.

Further information gathered by the police explains that last Monday, a house keeper at the hotel went to the deceased’s room to check on him as the deceased had not yet shown any sign of having had woken up that morning, only to find that the room was locked.

“The housekeeper subsequently knocked at the door but there was no response. Thereafter, he reported the matter to some staff members who were available.

“However, when the door was opened they found that Drew lying on his bed dead,” said Mushani.

The body of the deceased was taken to Kamuzu Central Hospital for postmortem.
