State controlled Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) is making cheap propagnda out of the arrest of Speaker Richard Msowoya`s arrest, linking him to the robbery.
MBC in its news bulletins alleges Msowoya sent his personal assistant Patrick Kayira to steal the laptop from a senior official at treasury in order to obtain information from government which the government was supposed to fix government in the forthcoming meeting of parliament.
The reporter then alleges Kayira has confessed to this to police and plays a clip which has the voice of Police spokesman Nicholas Gondwa who says Kayira has denied the charge of theft, which means he will plead not guilty to the charge when he appesrs in court.
Gondwa made no connection of Msowoya to the robbery. He said the laptop was recovered and the law enforcers are yet to establish whether any information was taken out of the laptop.
Msowoya could not be reached for comment but officials in his office say he is contacting his lawyers for advice.
