MBC TV personality Kalilani, partner rushed to hospital after punch-up

Self-styled news analyst for state owned broadcaster Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Television station Mgeme Kalilani and his other-half were rushed to Queen Elizabeth central in Blantyre Monday evening after the two were seriously involved in a free-for-all punch-up over reasons yet to established.

Kalirani and his wife were dashed to the country’s major referral hospital after a blood-spattering fight that left the warring couple seriously wounded.

Queens Elizabeth Hospital sources confided in Nyasa Times that Kalilani was brought into the hospitals’ emergency section at about midnight with a cut he sustained in the brawl with his wife Caroline Kaipsya.

“It looks like they had a fierce fight as both have sustained serious injuries and it was good they were rushed to the hospital. We are not sure yet as to what was the matter with them but when they arrived at the hospital they were still shouting at each other,” said a hospital an on-duty source who pleaded for anonymity.

Mgeme Kalirani and Caroline Kaipsya

The source disclosed that Kaipsya was still being treated for her wounds at the hospital while the television personality, Kalirani after noting that his presence at the hospital was attracting huge public attention he reportedly vanished in shame and out of mortification.

Kalilani came to the public spotlight for his tireless efforts in defending the DPP regime when it was at the peak of oppressing Malawians.

Recently, in an apparent hitback at Facebook critics Kalilani declared people are jealousy of him because he has travelled in many ‘aeroplanes’ like others have done on bicycles.
