Visiting Karonga United gave themselves force hopes after taking the lead in the early minutes of the game through a Lughindiko Mushani strike.

But the party did not last long as Mbulu equalised moments later before giving his side a lead midway into the first half.

He completed his hat trick in the second half to bring his tally of goals to 17 in the 2016-17 league season.

He is likely to surpas his own target he set at the begining of the season to score 20 goals.

Mbulu was also responsible in the demolition of Karonga United in the first round by hitting four goals in a game Mafco won 5-0.

Apart from Mbulu, only three players Maxwell Salambula [Blue Eagles],Gastin Simkonda [Moyale Barracks] and Peter Wadabwa [Mighty Be Forward Wanderers] are the only players who have registered hat tricks in the
current soccer season.

With the win, the Salima based soldiers moves to third position from fourth with 41 points from 22 games.

They are tied on points with Nyasa Big Bullets who seats on second position but the People’s team have a superior goal difference.

Mafco however have an advantage as they have a game in hand ontop of Bullets.

Blue Eagles who dominated the top position for the better part of the first round have been pushed out of the top four.

The fourth position has been occupied by Kamuzu Barracks who on Saturday narrowly beat Epac FC 1-0 thanks to a Manase Chiyesa 87th minute loan strike.

Mighty Be Forward who on Saturday breathed a sigh of relief after beating Wizards FC 2-0 despite having financial squabbles in their
camp have moved a step up to position six with 35 points from 23 games.

Azam Tigers and Red Lions occupies positions nine and ten at the middle of the park after registering a 0-0 draw and a 2-0 win over
Nyasa Big Bullets and MTV Max Bullets on Sunday respectively.

The battle for relegation rages on at the bottom of the log table between the four bottom sides.

Dwangwa United, Wizards Fc and Kronga United have 19 points each from 22 games while MTV Max Bullets remain at the bottom of the 16 member log table with only eight points from 21 games.

Civo United have temporalily escaped the relegation line up of
Dwangwa, Wizards and Karonga with a single point following a 0-0 draw
with Silver and they have 20 points from 23 games.

The draw is a relief to new coach Charles Manda who is still in search of his first win since joining the club at the beginning of the second round season.
