MCP CR camps bury hatchets to support Chakwera

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Central Region committees have buried their differences and come together for a common good by rendering their support to the party’s leadership of Dr Lazarus Chakwera.

Mlomo: The infighting has been work of external forces

The development was confirmed by the region’s former chairperson Daniel Mlomo after a meeting on Thursday in Lumbadzi which was attended by district chairpersons from the central region.

Mlomo said the two camps, one comprising of the leaders who were recently elected and the others who lost the elections and dragged the party to court for contravening procedures have resolved their differences for the good of the party.

“We have realized that fighting within ourselves will not take the party anywhere.  We want to be part of the team that will strengthen the party on the ground under the leadership of Dr Chakwera. We want unity in the party that’s why we came together to map the way forward,” he said.

However, Mlomo who was part of those who petitioned the party for a convention was noncommittal whether they have dropped their demands.

“We will stand by the court’s decision. Some of us were not happy with the new recruits that were incorporated into the party National Executive and all we want is for a convention to approve or disapprove them,” he said.

Mlomo said the divisions in MCP were being engeneered by external forces. He did not elaborate.

He will die a leader of opposition as his father Tembo. MCP is a party of part of the CR not the whole region, how then can he win the elections? By the end of 2018 all opposition parties will be in their graves.

Only dpp want Malawi to return to a one party dictatorial state. Hence all its ingrained thuggish behaviour to destabilise other parties.

It is good news that we have managed for the time-being to resolve this but watch out for dpp new tactics.

Now mr mlomo and others drop your demands and instruct the court not to proceed with its directions or order. Only then can we believe that this matter is resolved.
