Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has at long last announced names of its National Executive Committee (NEC)at a news conference held in Lilongwe on Friday.
MCP President Dr Lazarus Chakwera announced that academician and rights activist Dr Jessie Kabwila is now the party’s spokesperson.
Her deputy is journalist and MP Izekiel Chingoma.
Kabwila, a University of Malawi lecturer at Chancellor College who shot to fame for her leading role in the fight for academic freedom. She recently grabbed headlines when she was spotted wearing MCP cloth cloth embossled with the face of founding president Kamuzu Banda.at Chakwera’s rally in Salima.
The MCP has also ropped in into its executive one of Malawi’s most successful businesspeople Jimmy Koreia-Mpatsa.
Koreia-Mpatsa founder of the People’s Progressive Movement (PPM).
The party has also appointed UK based governance campaigner Ahmed Dassu into the executive.
The executive members also have former minister Ernest Malenga and agriculture-economist Felix Jumbe.
