Medical report says 3 children killer mum is insane
Malawi Police in Mchinji a preliminary medical report on a mother who brutally killed her three children in cold blood is insane.
Mchinji police publicist Moses Nyirenda said on Monday Violet Elijah was taken to Mchinji District Hospital for mental tests and it was discovered she is mentally ill.
“We now want to send her to Zomba Mental hospital for long term assessment. We are mobilising resources so that she goes for her assessment. After the assessment, she will appear in court,” said Nyirenda.
She is likely to appear before the High Court where a murder charge will be pronounced before her but her legal team from Legal Aid will bring to the attention of the court that she is mentally ill according to expert witness.
In her absence, the court will acquit her though the judge might rule for her continued mental medical care ar Zomba Mental Hospital.
Elijah, a single mother killed her three sons, 10 year old, 8 year old and 4 year old all boys by hitting each one of them with a hoe handle.

You are saying she is mentally ill. Don’t waist your time for proscution just send her to Zomba Mental Hospital for medication. Let the Judge attend other cases.

So it had to take such a horrific incident, for the assessment to be done!, very sad indeed. One way or the other, somebody should be held accountable for negligence. The saddest part of it all is that, this isn’t an isolated incident, in Malawi society there are numerous similar patients living amongst normal society and no one ever consider the danger these sick people pause to themselves as well as the society.
