Micium Mhone to miss first round, not yet cleared by SAFA

Former Jomo Cosmos midfielder Micium Mhone will not be involved in the first round of the TNM Super League by his Blue Eagles club after it emerged that he is not cleared by South Africa Football Association (Safa).

Micium Mhone: To miss first round

Eagles general secretary Ulemu Kalua confirmed that the Malawi Police side did not request for an international transfer certificate from Safa.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) transfer matching system manager Casper Jangale said the player will only be signed when the transfer window in South Africa – which is synchronised with the international transfer window – will open.

Malawi transfer window is no synchronised with the international one.

Mhone was also linked with Nyasa Big Bullets after being released by Jomo Cosmos.

But Kalua said the player is still attached to Blue Eagles.

“He is an officer in Malawi Police Service and he is rejoining our club. Even if another club wants to sign him, they would have to talk to us first,” he said.

TNM Super League kicks off this weekend.
