Mighty Wanderers’ Central Region supporters elect new committee

Mighty Wanderers FC  supporters on Sunday elected businessman Christopher Kamwendo as the new chairman for the club’s Central Region Supporters Committee.

The Central Region elections took place a few days after the club cancelled similar polls for Southern Region due to supporters’ misunderstandings on the electoral system.

The Southern Region supporters’ camps failed to agree on the voting system to be followed during a meeting they held last Wednesday at their club house in Blantyre.

In Lilongwe, the supporters elected Gift Muyawa and Katopola Kasache to deputise Kamwendo while Jumali Saidi and Yange Nyirongo were elected general secretary and deputy respectively.

The supporters also entrusted Chulu Mkangama and Chris Zingwangwa to take responsibility of the finances.

The Central Region Nomads’ fans further placed their faith in Selemani Afiki, Chindikani Munthali, Suman, Henry,  Jambo, Lawrence and a Mr Banda to serve as executive members.

In his acceptance speech, Kamwendo emphasized the need for cordial relationship between members of the Nomads’ family.

He said for the team to successfully fight for cup honours in the coming season there was need for unity between supporters committee and the main executive committee.

“Our main objective is to make sure that there is a good relationship between Lilongwe based and Blantyre based supporters and the team main executive committee,” said Kamwendo while stressing that all differences that existed between supporters from the two cities and the team’s main executive committee was water under the bridge.

Kamwendo personally vowed to work hand in hand with the club’s main executive committee.
