Mhango confirmed the incident, saying he sped off in a haste.

Sources at the funeral ceremony said that all was peaceful until an overzelous Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) official stood up during the eulogies and declared Mhango would retain his parliamentary seat in 2019. Mhango floored Msiska in the 2014 parliamentary elections.

Our source at the funeral ceremony said family members felt insulted by the DPP remarks and asked Mhango to leave the funeral home peacefully to which he obliged.

In an interview Mhango blamed politics for the incident saying the area, Junju where the funeral took place is the stronghold of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Mhango is one of the closest allies of President Peter Mutharika and one of the key ministers in the 20 strong cabinet.

He is accused of leaking some documents to the media over the purchase of K300 million vehicles for leader of opposition in parliament Lazarus Chakwera and speaker Richard Msowoya.

Both Chakwera and Msowoya, president and vice president of MCP deny any wrong doing.

Mhango said he had To leave the place to respect the will of the bereaved family.

Akuti official wa DPP yo anachita kutumidwa ndi Japi yemweyo kuti azinena zopusa zo. Mbuzi zokha-zokha.. Pamaliro sipopangira kampneni. Whether the area is MCP or any other party’s stronghold is not the issue.

I would like to dispute the fact that DPP 20 cabinet Ministers is strong. The truth of the matter is that the DPP present cabinet is worst than any cabinet I have ever seen since independence 51 years ago.The cabinet is visionless, corrupt, incompetent and aboveall, obsolete.Malawians,pull-up your socks you have a long way to go and unless you desist from nepotism, tribalism and such divisive terms,Malawi will never reach the promised land.

That was a senseless move by the minister, why he can’t respect the funeral proceedings? I don’t blame the people for becoming furious.
