Miss Curvy Malawi auditions starts on a poor note

The much publicised Miss Curvy Malawi  beauty contest auditions started on a poor note on Saturday in Lilongwe as only four people turned up for auditions.

Excite Communications Manager Diana Liabuba confirmed to Nyasa Times that the turn up was indeed poor.

“Indeed we have received a low turn up. We had only four people who came and out of those only one qualifies,” said Liabuba.

“We will now go out scouting girls who can qualify and after the scouting process we will still have the auditions to come out with the best,” she said.

According to Liabuba, the scouting will be done in various colleges. The colleges include Bunda, Simard, and Natural Resources among others.

The process will run up until February 10.

She emphasized that her organization will make sure that they come up with a well qualified candidate to represent Malawi at the continental Miss Curvy Africa.

“It is an international event so there is no way we can bend the rules. We need ladies with all requirements particularly 1.7m height with at least MSCE and have a better understanding of issues on the local and international scene,” she said.

According to Liabuba, any woman who has curves, physical beauty and keeps a flat tummy is eligible to enter the pageant as they do not need to have a serious modeling background.

She emphasised that women with brains, beauty, healthy and natural curves will be accepted.
