Morgan Heritage live in Malawi: Promises soul uplifting performance

Everyone who loves reggae music and has been familiar with the current wind of international reggae music artists that have been performing in the country will never fail to mention the name Morgan Heritage.

Four members of the band were in the country in December last year with an ‘introduction’ performance of their new and Grammy’s winning album Strictly the Roots at Silver Stadium.

They went back with a promise of a full band performance this year.

True, to their word and that of local music promoter Nelson Shaba a.k.a. Born Afrikan, the full house in indeed in town to rock the city with ‘sweet’ reggae music on Saturday at Civo Stadium.

Addressing reporters in Lilongwe on Thursday, Gramps Morgan promised Malawians of a performance Malawians will live to remember.

“We will have a performance that with uplift your mind, body and soul through music because music is our ministry. It will be a full show, a catalogue of songs from 1999 up to date,” he said.

Gramps added that “last time performance was for introduction and we promised to be back and here we are ready to excite our fans here in Malawi.”

Petah had no other words but expressing his admiration of the country’s beauty.

“We love Malawi as any other country in Africa. Malawi is a very beautiful country, very peaceful and the nature so green. We love to be here and we will always come to perform if invited,” he said.

The band has promised to perform for three hours non stop.

Born Afrika equated the show to a toughest durby in football circles.

“Its going to be tough and very exciting, people will enjoy the show to the maximum,” said Afrikan of Born Afrikan Productions.

Born Afrikan Productions country Coordinator Mphatso Chaluluka said number of people have bought the early bird tickets but many have missed the oopportunit which ended on Wednesday .

“However tickets are now selling like hotcakes with the coming in of the full band,”  he said.
