Moyale Sisters recover from loss, thrashes Collabo Sisters

Moyale Barracks netball club recovered from their 17-31 loss at the hands of northern Malawi Presidential Cup champions Young Sisters by thrashing new comers Collabo sisters with 48-7 baskets at Katoto court in Mzuzu on Sunday.

Moyale Sisters who have never won a cup ever since, featured Naomi Sindeya, Moddy Mitengo, Carol Mwamwaya and  Dona Nyirenda who controlled the proceedings in all quarters, leading their counterparts by 12-0, 20-1, 30-3 till it ended 48-7.

Collabo sisters were however, no mere pushovers. Their player,  in particular Eddah Botha was vey outstanding as she gave the women soldiers some torrid time to sweat for their victory.

They were disadvantaged as they lacked target to grab goals as many had height problem as  compared to the soldiers.

The win takes Moyale Barracks’ tally to 9 points from four matches. They beat Ella sisters 36-12 and Happy sisters  by 22-14 in their opening matches before losing to Young sisters.

On the other hand, Collabo Sisters have lost all their four matches. They lost 83-0 to Young Sisters then tumbled 28-12 to Ella Queens  and Super Queens by 23-8.

Captain of Moyale Barracks Sindeya said in an interview that they are determined to win Mzuzu zonal Airtel Games before they could challenge for the national cup.

Secretary for Mzuzu district netball committee Deborah Gondwe said she is impressed with the way the competition is going.
