MP Kabwila welcomes DPP women who have defected to MCP in Salima
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) member of parliament in Salima North-West Constituency, Jessie Kabwila has welcomed over 120 women members of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) who has defected and joined the main opposition MCP in her constituency.
The women said they have dumped DPP because of poor leadership and Kabwira said the move demonstrated how the general public has trust in MCP and lost it from DPP.
“Joining of these DPP women supporters into MCP, it just show how trustworthy is the general public have in the party. This is strong signal to DPP that MCP will come with full force to take power come 2019,” said Kabwila, who was flanked with some former district chairpersons Mwale, Nkhamalantha and constituency chairperson Makamu.
“Malawians have suffered a lot with a lot of challenges including shortages of drugs in public hospitals, skyrocketing of prices of goods and services coupled with corruption. It’s only the MCP that has the solutions to bring back the lost glory”, Kabwila said.
DPP administrative secretary Francis Mphepo said the defectors were not genuine members of party.
