Member of parliament for Mulanje South Constituency, Bon Kalindo who is also deputy publicity secretary of ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) says he does not agree with calls from some quarters to impeach Speaker Richard Msowoya, saying he is highly competent.
Speaking in National Assembly during his contribution to Mid-term Budget Review, saying calls to impeach the Speaker were baseless.
“Mr Speaker Sir, let me also add my voice to those making calls and plans to impeach or force you to resign that they must go to hell as such calls are baseless,” said the politician-cum comedian who us known as ‘Winiko’ in his artistic skirt.
“ I personally like the way you handle business in this house and such calls to have you resign from your positions are irrelevant”, Kalindo said amid hand clapping and ululations from opposition benches.
Winiko remarks cokes days after a group of people under the name of Islamic Commission for Justice and Freedom through state television Malawi Broadcasting Corporation called for resignation of Msowoya as Speaker if he can’t resign as vice president of opposition Malawi Congress Party.
It also comes amid rumours that police was planning to arrest him for allegedly aiding opposition member of parliament Jessie Kabwila and Louis Chankhwantha to escape police arrest as he offered them his official car ‘Parliament 1’.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
