The group which has its own uniqueness in making backpacks , shoes , bangles , shirts and capes  from local materials (chitenje),leather and jean outfits started  on  9th January 2015 with only 6 members who had passion in fashion designing.

Speaking in an interview Aubrey Saleem, Founder and Manager of Mpaliro wear said, the group is self sponsored and rely on their own contribution to buy materials which are used to make different products.

“Our aim is to promote Malawian culture through dressing and creating job opportunities among youths who are jobless.

“Everyone has a certain goal in life but our goal is to cover the market place worldwide with our unique products such as backpacks made from chitenje” said Saleem.

He added that since the group started in 2015, they have managed to dress up some artists in their music videos including Malceba, Bizzy B and Phexado.

According to the group Deputy Manager, Bernard Phiri, dressing these artists is one of our great achievements since we are trying to get publicity and reach a lot of people.

“However selling our products is the biggest challenge that we are facing right now since we are not well known in the market place.

“Small companies or groups are not given a chance to showcase their products through big entertainment events such as Lake of Stars” said Phiri.

The group is based in Lilongwe area 38 (kaphiri) along M1 Road.
