During the gathering, the company gave out awards to some outstanding employees with other lucky members going home with mouth-watering prizes from a raffle draw.

Addressing the staff members during the gathering, managing director for the company Peter du Plessis thanked all the employees for their hard work and dedication during the year and wished them a happy festive season.

The MPICO boss also hailed the organising committee for the event led by head of marketing and facilities manager Ellen Chapinduka-Nyasulu for doing a wonderful job.

Reflecting on the 2015 business year in an interview with Nyasa Times, Chapinduka-Nyasulu described the year as challenging but pointed out that the company managed to achieve some success including the opening of the top-of-the-range MPICO Gateway Shopping Mall in Lilongwe’s Area 47.

“Albeit other challenges, we managed to write some success stories and the opening of the Gateway Mall, which is the largest business mall in the country remains a major milestone,” said Chapinduka-Nyasulu.

During the gathering, the company gave out some fun awards as well as prizes for outstanding employees. Jack Msosa, a former footballer for University FC and Escom United was named as the most dependable employee.

There were also awards for the smartest employee, employee with the worst hand writing, most reserved employee and employee with the neatest desk, amongst others. All the awardees received Christmas hampers.

Chapinduka-Nyasulu and Humba Matsanzo were awarded with Gold Cards for outstanding services and received K75,000 each.

After the awards, there was a raffle draw which saw Nora Chalamwendo winning a state-of-the-art Plasma TV. Jeffrey Sapa won a fridge with the managing director winning a rice cooker. Several other employees also won prizes like mini cooker, double bed mattress, juice blender, kettle and iron.
