Msuku start Moyale era with win over Escom

Coach Temwa Msuku started his new era at Moyale with a convincing 3-1 win against Escom United on Saturday at the Zomba Community Centre Ground.
The Electricians loss has put them in an awkward situation as they are still stuck in the relegation zone having a massed 16 points on the fourteenth slot.

During Saturdays encounter, Moyale kicked-off the game on a high note as 6 seconds into the game Gaston Simkonda set up Wisdom Mabulu, who scored from a close range.

However, the Electricians worked tirelessly until in the 36th minute when man of the match Manase Chiyesa controlled the ball on the chest before realizing a thunderous grass cutter passing Moyale Barracks custodian MacDonald Harawa in goals.

Escom goal was a wakeup call to the soldiers, who breathed fire as they were coming wave after wave with some marvelous counter attacks.

On the dot of 45 minutes, the Blantyre based out-fit was delt with a heavy blow when their goal keeper Thomas Kalavina limped off the field of play after colliding with Simkonda.

The injury forced Escom United to introduce little experienced goalkeeper Maneno Maseko.

The Mzuzu based soldiers piled up pressure to the Electricians, no wonder an AK 47 was enough to switch off the main switch following Crispin Fukizi’s second goal after a set piece from Chamveka Gwetsani.

Chiukepo Msowoya and Kelvin Hanganda tried all their formula’s to equalize for their team but all their shorts went off-target.

As if 2-1 was not enough, Simkonda came again with the last nail on the Electricians coffin to make Moyale 3-2 against limping Escom United.

Coach Msuku said the victory was “encouraging”.

Blantyre United, who humiliated Mighty Wanderers with a 4-2 margin are basking comfortably on the summit table with 39 points followed by Big Bullets who have 38 points.

The People Team were on bye, as they were walloped 4-1 by Bvumbwe Research on Saturday in a friendly match at BAT Ground.
