Munthali heads Malawi Youth Football League

CiMalawi National Youth Fooball League has elected a new committee during the Annual General Meeting held on Saturday.

The elections saw most candidates elected unopposed apart from the position of General Secretary and executive members.

Chimango Munthali, who was the Vice General Secretary, was elected to head the association as chairperson unopposed.

Munthali replaced Mabvuto Missi who did not seek a third term of office, with Oswald Lungu reelected unopposed for the position of Vice chairperson.

But the real battle in the elections was on the position of General Secretary which saw incumbent Thoko Chimbali surviving tough competition by beating Sawe 11 to 7 to retain the position.

Outspoken football coach, adminstrator and football analyst Dan Makiyi was elected Vice General Secretary unopposed just like Tiyekhu Chavula on the position of Treasurer.

Mcloud Munthali and Wasauka Nyirenda completed the executive committee having secured 7 and 6 votes respectively to beat Gommy Mkandawire (4) votes and Joel Magola (1) vote for the position of members.

The committee will serve for a four-year tenure of office.
