Mwenefumbo denies joining DPP:  Endorses JB

Karonga Central Constituency independent parliamentary candidate Frank Mwenefumbo has denied social media reports claiming he had joined Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), saying he has endorsed President Joyce Banda of ruling People’s Party (PP).

There have been fevered speculation in social media groups of DPP that Mwenefumbo would be joining DPP.

But in a telephone interview with Nyasa Times on Wednesday, Mwenefumbo categorically ruled out the prospect of joining DPP.

“I have no inclinations towards the DPP ideologies,” said Mwenefumbo.

He insisted that he would not be party to those following the gravy train in backing DPP.

“Though am contesting as an independent, I am PP and I am endorsing President Joyce Banda . I will vote for President Banda, period,” said Mwenefumbo.

He said no one should be his spokesperson to cook stories.

Mwenefumbo, who was expelled from PP for standing as an independent after losing primary elections in December, said people in Karonga still remember human rights abuses they suffered under DPP regime and he would not betray them by joining the same party.
