Mzuni graduate earns MBA scholarship by UNICAF University and Nation Publications

UNICAF University in conjunction with Nation Publications Limited (NPL) on Thursday awarded a Masters Business Administration (MBA) scholarship to a Malawian needy student.

Handing over the scholarship, Nation Publications Limited Chief Executive Officer Mbumba Banda said this is yet another sign on how private sectors can improve high education levels to all needy students in the country.

When UNICAF was launching the university in this country, they approached NPL as media organisation to work together through adverts and search for deserving person to win the MBA scholarship.

“As a media house we worked together to advertise for participates and we were looking for candidates who could display ability, excellence, indeed and in need of the scholarship,” said Banda.

She further said as a media organisation they are a channel of communication and by working with universities and other parties that are aiming to promote education in the country can work with or through them.

“we have noted that we carry few stories about needy student and the response has been positive where such students are assisted, so as  NPL, the role we can assure everyone is that we will provide information and facilitate communication, where the is need to help people,” said Banda.

She further urged the winner to utilize the scholarship and do well in his studies so that UNICAF is encouraged to continue helping needy students in the country through his performance.

Banda said, the winner is the window to the project and if he does well in the scholarship program, it can be expanded to other people.

On his part UNICAF Chief Executive Officer, Dr Nicos Nicolaou said he was glad to be working hand in hand with Nation Publication Limited to be facilitating the scholarship program through them.

“This partnership is helping, as it has already started producing its fruits and today we are witnessing the first winner of the scholarship competition.

“It’s a great opportunity for the country, because students have a chance to earn international recognized qualifications by utilizes UNICAF scholarships,” explained Nicolaou.

Langson Samala the winner of the MBA scholarship said he was happy and short of words to be the luckiest because they were a lot who applied for scholarship competition but only to be picked as a winner.

“I thank God for this and I will work hard to encourage others and UNICAF to offer more opportunities for scholarships to needy students in the country,” Samala concluded.

i don’t think the writer of the article used needy, in a disrespectful way, but needy, as a person who is in need of a way to study, or to describe someone who is in need of the scholarship.

I want to plead with CITIZEN why are you complaining ,as a learned person you were given that scholarship not for mediocrity purposes as you are putting it that scholarship was given to you in order to improve the MPH professional in your respective community and livelihoods of your siblings or parents or even relatives not to get popular on nyasatimes.What i can advise you is from now on wards please discard your inferiority complex mindset and start applying what you learned from England then people will start publishing your stories on media houses even to the extent of reaching… Read more »

sometimes its hard to understand some of the things, serious the whole story basi scholarship ya munthu mmodzi serious a malawi, in 2013 i was among three Malawians amene anapatsidwa schoolarship to study MPH in England koma that lady sanabwere pa media mkumavuta anthu ndikuwelenga zimenezi kuti ndapeleka ma schoolarship even after graduation w never came and say tabwerako, yet among us one passed with Distinction.koma akanakhala amenewa eshhhh
