Mzuni’s Mhango scoops ICT award for inventing software
Fourth year Mzuzu University (Mzuni) ICT student Emmanuel Mhango stamped his authority during the National ICT Week, held at Bingu Conference Centre in Lilongwe from 9th to 11th December, by scooping the 2013 Best Innovative Youth Award.
Mhango won with an invention with which customers can locate various products in major shops in the country by simply using mobile phones once they are in those particular shops.
“I’m glad I’ve been awarded,” Mhango told Nyasa Times. “I’m very optimistic that it will open more platforms for my inventions and designs.”
Overall, Mzuni won second position with an e-voting programme – designed by Mhango, Stanley Ndebvu, Memory Banda and Armson Munguluma – that was also presented at a function attended by vice president Khumbo Kachali and other renowned ICT stakeholders in the country.
Last year two final year Mzuni students, Kondwani Chimatiro and Daniel Chiwinga also hit national and international headlines for their C-Finder – a search engine that ably connects people across the world.
