Mzuzu University Council, students reach an agreement on fees hike
Mzuzu University Council and students have hammered a gentleman’s deal to hike fees by K30, 000 instead of the K50, 000 proposed by the council.
Students Union representative Wazamazama Katatu was over the moon when contacted for comment saying, “we have reached a win-win situation.”
This means the undergraduate students will now be paying K280000 a year up from K250000.
The university council had initially proposed a K300000 per year fee citing high inflation which has pushed the cost of running the institution higher than budgeted.
Officials from the university said the institution will have to get clearance from the government before the new fees are implemented.
Vice chancellor of the university said his institution would operate at a K200 million deficit because the government has reduced the institution’s budget.

It clearly shows how diplomatic our white colleagues are. Look how unima handled it then see how mzuni has. No wonder mzuni is becoming a bettter education institution than unima. Good job Ridley. Malawians are going through hell currently, and it is only wiise to be considerate when hiking school fees. We know the priority of many malawians currently if to find food. Benedicto and your frends at the helm of unima, u r heartless. U are creating a big gap between the reach and poor.
AAAAAAAM IT MAKES SOME SENSE THOUGH
