Vice Chancellor of the university Robert Ridley proposed the fees hike from K250000 to K300000 owing to the high of running the institution.

“The government has not raised the fees for the last three years and now we have no option but raise it because of the high cost of running the university.”

But students representative James Kudzalo said raising the fees now would be unfair to student sponsors who are fling the pinch of the high cost of living of the shrinking economy in all sectors.

“The government should not run away from its responsibility of educating its citizenry,” he said.

The government recently raised fees for mature entry students all its universities.

its unfair to malawians to hike the fees, most student are failing to collarate with 250000 and yet the gvt is still keeping that amount up. i think the best way the gvt would have done is to stop giving money to private universities, their focus should only be on public universities because it is believd to say that for some one applying for prvt college that person has something in pocket

How come those in private schools are able to pay. If standards go down you also point fingures at government.… Read more »
