Maggie Chombo Academy owned and coached by Malawi’s women’s football legend reached the final after beating Ndirande Stars 2-0 at Chiwembe and Technical Development on Saturday.

Namiwawa coached by Silas Liwindo thrashed Yizoyizo 5-2 to reach their second Presidential Cup final in three years.

The thumping victory silenced former outspoken Blantyre United coach Mario Mtengano Gadada.

Namiwawa FC official Mzee said they were looking forward to make history after missing the cup by a whisker having to seasoned campaigners Griffin Young Stars.

“We are going to tooth and nail to win because the opportunity has availed itself that we cannot afford to miss,” Makawa said.

He said by winning the regional cup they would automatically qualify for the national draw.

“We are aiming higher to meet a big team should qualify because this would motivate the players,” he said.

His counterpart Maggie Chombo said her charges were equally looking for nothing short of grabbing the cup.

In the quarterfinals Namiwawa recorded another thumping 7-0 win over Machinjiri while Maggie Chombo Academy overcame Ntopwa Stars by 2-0
