Code party introduces candidate in Blantyre City South

Kasambara: Supporting Muluzi presidential candidature but fielding Code parliemntary candidates

Congress for Democrats (Code) political party has joined the parliamentary race for next year’s general elections and has started introducing its candidates. 

Code interim president Ralph Kasambara introduced a parliamentary candidate for Blantyre City South constituency at a political rally he held at Zingwangwa in the constituency. 

“I am introducing to you Code’s parliamentary candidate for Blantyre City South constituency, he is Mr. Ali Chinemba Banda,” said Kasambara to a deafening applause from the crowd. 

As Kasambara pulled Chinemba to the platform, the crowd chanted: “kaka! Kaka! Kaka!” 

Some people shouted to say the sitting parliamentarian Jimmy Banda has failed to deliver in the constituency. 

“Instead of our MP pushing for social amenities, he is busy asking for construction of prisons, we are not criminals, we are good citizens who need a good leader,” said one. 

Code president expressed optimism that Chinemba will win the elections on Code ticket. 

“We are certain about this constituency with Ali Chinemba Banda, Kaka as most of you are calling him,” said Kasambara. 

He however urged the constituents to register in large numbers to enable them vote during the May 19, 2009 polls. 

Code is supporting presidential candidature of Dr Bakili Muluzi the former head of state who is constitutionally allowed to vie for another term of office after taking a break.
