Gay launch Saturday after Bingu’s nod
The newly established Malawi Gay Rights Movement (Magrim) has announced that they are going ahead with their organization’s launch this weekend after getting an okay from Head of State, Bingu Mutharika.
Magrim interim chairperson, Mc Leod said the launch for the association, which reportedly has 3,890 members, is planned for Saturday 13th September 2008 in Blantyre coming after claims that President Mutharika has given them moral support to exist.
“The leadership of Magrim sought an audience with the President to seek permission to launch the movement. The President has wished us well and promised to grant an audience when he returns from USA where he has gone for a UN summit,” said Magrin spokesman, a journalist at state broadcaster, MBC.
The Gay movement applauded the President soft spot on homosexuality and said they will go ahead to sensitise and lure Malawians into the act claiming Malawi has had an active gay population and that they have been meeting for a long time.
They have also in turn pledged to give Mutharika votes during the 2009 polls.
Homosexuality is illegal in the laws of Malawi and punishable by imprisonment with hard labour.
But the movement said it will lobby amendment of the Panel Code which criminalizes homosexuality saying the constitution of the republic which has bill of rights does not condone discrimination.
Calls by the Malawi Human Rights Resource centre in 2005 for gay rights were met with violent opposition. Mc Leod said the situation now looks promising “with the blessing of the powers that be.”
"In fact, Malawi has an active population of 89, 000 homosexuals, and this we say because we meet, and have sexual intercourse,” disclosed Mc Leod. Sources say amongst people meeting in the homosexual community are prominent business persons, politicians, well known artists, journalists and clerics. "We have a place in Blantyre City Centre where we have been meeting for the past six years," disclosed Gay leader.
The movement plans to begin outreach activities, starting this November, to sensitise people that homosexuality is natural, and no cause for shame.

Which laws of Malawi state that homosexuality is punishable huh? The Malawi constitution is silent and the penal code is used because that is the closest code to handling gay matters.Proper research is needed Nyasatimes.Malawi uses laws of countries like Zimbabwe and Namibia to act as precedents in gay cases.Just as Madonna said on Oprah..."there are no adoption laws in Malawi they are waiving adoptions condition now".Our constitution does not cite many issues it is usually custom law which helps our judiciary mainly *.e. custom/cultural uprightness.
Gay people in Malawi exist but it is a sin bcoz the Bible says no.Nonetheless, it will be fair to legalise gay *** for anyone 18 and over as at that stage one is old enough to handle sexual and relationship issues.Whoever wants to be gay should be gay, who wants to be straight should be straight and who ever wants to be bi-sexual should be bi-sexual.
Am a Malawian gay.* have been gay all my life.Tried to change, pray, fast, cried but nothing changed. For the last 7 years * accepted my status.Am a practsing christian and am a very educated man.The only thing am missing is Mr right. The thng is, gay people feel the same way as heterosexual feel when they see the opposite ***.You cant change a gay person.
Now to McLoed, U are a very ****** gay man.How can u hide your surname? If u think u doing something ******,criminal or theft you should quit your chairmanship and shagg with your men in private. We need people who are openly gay, hold press conferences, interviews,tv conversation not to hide your surname. You making gay people look ******.
Now to Magrim, pls get rid of McLoed and use all those gays who are capable of representing Malawi gays.

Christians, let us pray hard as this is a sign of the end of the earth. It has never happened, but Jesus mentioned about alot that will happen before His coming on earth for judgement. * am told even clerics are involved in such bizzare activities, therefore, such clerics need to be prayed for because that is playing with Jesus' name.
Ndatha ine wanu Zenofobiya 1.
As for Bingu he has to give it a nod because he needs votes, today'* politics you may not be aasured wha garantee does he have to win their votes? its a trick and stratergy that anyone can do, this is the time when anything can happen ask Bingu anything he will give you just convince him that you have my vote.

* am worried if teh country will allow hom sexuals to operate freely and with impunity in their drive to recruit members. Most Malawians who may be poor may be swayed to join such movement even when their sexual orientation is straight just because of economic gains. These fellows in truth will operate as bi-sexual and with
