Bingu tells off Livingstonia Synod

image Mutharika: I dont buy off support

Malawi President Ngwazi Dr Bingu wa Mutharika disappointed the delegation of Livingstonia Synod which called on him at Mzuzu State House when he could not stomach their advice.

State House source said Livingstonia Synod which met Mutharika included Rev Mezuwa Banda, Rev Nyondo, Rev Maurice Munthali and Rev Baloyi.

According to the source, the church clergy were reminding the Head of State that “there is no development in the north” .

They told the President that all development being touted for the northern region was “political rhetoric”.

The clergy also bluntly told Mutharika that there were few northern region people in key positions unlike the Lomwes who are dominating the government machinery.

Livingstonia Synod group warned Mutharika against the use of the quota system, for admission of new entrants to the university of Malawi.

The clergy expressed fear that the quota system which was first introduced by the former regime of dictator late Ngwazi Kamuzu Banda in 1988 will discriminate against people from the north.

But Mutharika angrily said as minister of education he had already explained that he was misunderstood on the use of the controversial system which was stopped by court rafter students’ dragged government to court.

“I don’t buy off support, I am not Bakili Muluzi type,” anger filled Mutharika is quoted to have told the clergy.

Mutharika pointed out to Livingstonia Synod that he was  looking at equitable selection of students to institutions of higher learning that include all constituent colleges of the University of Malawi, Mzuzu University and other public colleges.

High Court recently granted an injunction and stay order to Winfred Mkochi, Head of African Languages and Linguistics Department at Chancellor College in Zomba, who filed for judicial review of the government’s directive.

Mkochi, who is also president of the Chancellor College Academic Staff Union (CCASU), asked the court to quash the decision by government of Ngwazi Mutharika and the University of Malawi Council arguing that the introduction of the new system when other students were already selected was "unreasonable and infringes on the rights of students who were legitimately expected to be admitted on the basis of merit only."

The clergy is right and the integrity of the Northerners is questionable. How can they be praising Bingu to the extent of calling him Ngwazi as if he has done anything tangible for the north. Look at the way the Chitipa Road is being constructed. Everything is substandard, *.e, the equipment, the engineers (less than five chinese engineers), the camp etc are all substandard. Kamuzu never used such substandard contractors for Mchinji Road, Salima Road, Chikwawa Road just to mention a few. The Chitipa Rd terrain needs contractors with reputation and not the Chinese who are there. Where is Nkhata Bay hospital whose bill was passed last year? The News Reporters in Malawi are to blame for not enlightening Malawians about these things. Bingu is doing all this to **** people of the north during the run up to the 2009 elections. We should not let such leaders like Bingu continue fooling us in the 21st Century.

These Livingstonia CCAP clergy, take themselves as most superior, why is it like that? Did they think Bingu is like Muluzi who always buy votes with cheap politics? Bingu is different. Bingu is Lomwe, went to school and has no time puppeting people for their votes. He sent vendors away from roads, when Muluzi could just watch them plying their trade in alkward places. These clergy, would have known Bingu sometime back, that he likes buying time. After all, north has at least a good number of cabinet ministers compared to central region, which is completely forgotten by this ngwazi. So, for the clergy asking for more people in higher position, kunali kusakhutitsidwa chabe, kapena tinene kuti msulizo.

Lets not be emotional and castigate each other! * think if Bingu wants equitable selection of students to unuiversity, the answer is not introducing quota system but build more universities to enrol more students!!!! Mwamva a Bingu!! Please scale-up construction of more colleges/unuversities! And this can be done in even 3-5 years! We dont want to be reminded of the quota system that existed in the mcp era! A student from the region X with 18 points not getting selected but somebody from region Z with 27 points getting selected!! Is this the equity you are looking for!! Our voice is very clear on the development in the North (there is none), quota system (no bouncing back), reasonable appointments to the Cabinet and influential positions etc. We are waiting for the President to act on all those. We need to show him that we are not happy with the little attention the North is getting, just rhetoric. Instead of visiting him the Clergy should just have written a very strong letter. They can still do that now. Of course * do not support that wrangle between Livingstonia and Nkhoma synods. Nobody will respect you now including HE.

* think the issue here is that matter of fact the developments in the north and the magnitude of the praises on HE do not tally. We know that HE is trying his best to develop Malawi equally but it is the implementers who are betraying him. Just fancy a whole Minister using constituency funds to support his car sales business. So do you think with that kind of thinking can we develop? The blame should not go to HE only but his followers too. It is easy to put the rules and regulations but very difficult to enforce them, thats what is happening, HE has put strict measures to allow equal distribution of develop but his followers are the ones betraying him.

Ine sindine mtumbuka koma kumpoto ndinakhalako. * really feel sorry when we the country mock our colleagues from that side of the country.

To begin with, look at Mzuzu. Is that something worthy a city status while we have Blantyre and Lilongwe. Look at the road network in the north. There are only two roads, the whole region M1 and M5 both meeting at Mzuzu then proceed as one road to Karonga. How many roads do we have in south and centre?

On the issue of being talkative or being influential. * hope for those who have studied Malawian history will agree with me that in Malawi the first people to receive sound education were the northerners. That is why they were able to comprehend issues better than our ancestors down here. It is a fact that even the freedom we are enjoying today, the people who fought for it are northerners. Even MCP itself that is monopolised by the Chewas today was formed by northerners, Orton Chirwa and Aleke Banda after the likes of Levi Mumba had laid foundations. Kamuzu and his team joined later when everything was already set.

If it were that northerners were power hungry, Kamuzu wouldn'* have been the first president. Orton Chirwa gave him the power while he himself was already ruling.

My colleagues, think twice when you want to say something against northerners.

North sympathizer

We dont blame Bingu wa Muntharika for telling off the clergy of Livingstonia Mission. This sums up everything that Northeners dont appreciate whatever development is being brought to them. Things cannot change or being completed in just one day, there are proper channels which have to be followed as these learned brothers and sisters of the Northern region have been expecting. They have to blame themselves for their fake and betrayal support of any current president which is not done in true faith. They did the same with the former head of state Dr.Bakili Elson Muluzi. Much as we may respect their views kapena kulira kwao by virtue of being brothers and sisters of Malawi, we will never take them seriously because of their incompetency in the presentation of their problems. You embarassed Muluzi in his developmental tours. Mulibe chikondi anthu akumpoto. Stop politics of isolation when we come to think of the Northerners as the true sons and daughters of Malawi. Ubusa wamasiku ano ndi geni moti atawauza kuti awapatsa senior cabinet positions sangakane ayi.Ambirinu mumalowa ubusa for a leaving after retirement from some miserable job. Tiyeni tisabisale muubusa ngati ndife angelo. Kodi sindinu a Livinstonia munalowelera m'dera la Nkhoma? Mumadziwa kuti kuli khobili. Ngwazi does not need to be reminded about the state of the north or any other region by you, there are people from the region in politics who are close to him and it is their duty to do that.

Inunso atumbuka mukuziti ophunziranu, bwanji osayamba kumanga nyumba kwanu koma kukamira ku BT? And you know how naive some of the educated guys from the north are. First start to pump sense in them, whether one is a lawyer or not. Pali zina zosafunika kudziwa kuwerenga mabuku.

How can you remove aforeign body from your friend'* eye while you have one in your eye.Intake at Livingstonia Unirvesity ,99.9% are notherners . Thy are failing to solve the issue of boundary between Nkhoma,is that the chritianity that Rorbert Laws brought or they have started theirs. If you can see them properly they are completly outside chritianity that we even feel ashamed that they wear the CCAP name. Are they fit to be called reveland *? Are they not witches that that fellow Reverands just choose them for fear of being bewitched. How can the clergies who are serving devil advise the state president and even the way they made there presentations ,not as if from clergies.

The Livingstonia synod told Bingu the truth, and we should not forget truth pains.

Bingu will see how poweful these men of God are. Don'* be cheated with your DPP governors.

Charu nimazgola, chikazgola Gamphani pa Nkhamanga, leave those lomwes they will see how the world can turn around.

Its shameful for our leaders to call Bingu Ngwazi, and the north as the home for DPP. U Mzuni what has Bingu achieved for the north?
