Bineth Trust now official sponsor of TVM awards –Mutharika

President Bingu wa Mutharika on Wednesday night announced that his Bineth Trust will now be the official sponsors of TVM awards.
Speaking at the inaugural awards event at College of Medicine in Blantyre, President Mutharika said he was “extremely pleased” with the “brilliant idea” by the TV station to honour unsung heroes.
“Many ordinary people in communities are doing great deeds but are not recognized,” President Mutharika.
He congratulated the awardees for the awards, their bravely and determination.
Mutharika said it takes courage to survive and many people would easily give up.
He cited the electrification project at Kavuzi in Nkhatabay and the challenges 15-year-old Dorothy Damba awarded for looking after her aged epileptic mother.
In addition, the President encouraged Malawians to continue “dreaming in colour”.
President Mutharika has since extended his Bineth Trust education foundation sponsorship to Dorothy Damba until she completes her studies.
The trust spends about 3.5 million Kwacha per term to pay fees for needy children throughout Malawi.
The girl currently is doing Form 3 at Jacaranda Foundation of Maria Da Silva, a nun in US who was also presented with an award.

This is called “highway-robbery”! Mutharika steals from the Malawians, and turns around to “give” some change back into the community. He wants to look good. Mr President, where did the money at Bineth Foundation come from? You had almost lost your Zimbabwe farm for lac of funds to pay the workers – fortunately for you we elected as our leader. Where are you getting all the money that makes you physically look like you are drunk? Drunk with our national savings, and stealing in addition to abusing your authority. Mr Presdient,i hope you read nyasatimes, because, as you have heard – what goes up must come down!
Basi mfana amemeneyu watola chikwama! I think she is lucky, God bless you toung girl for your charity!
TVM this is ajob well done how you managed to find these deserving people is your bussiness but I salute you.At least you left politics and did something good for the nation. Why did you waste our time with mizwanya when you can do good things.Look at Nawena now a wanted man after demonising other people to please DPP on your station.Learn from other peoples mistakes.Once again well done continue hunting for the unsung heroes.
good gesture..but where is the money coming from..i know its coming from government coffers…mwanavekha..kandodo cant say no. Koma a Malawi, cant we come up with a working committee on Awards in Malawi. literacy works, artistics works, nventions,,etc..Nachipanti hero to be awarded is nonsense to a major majority in my raw thinking.but there is kakwamba (sc) the electricty willmill boy from kasungu who has been praised worldwide..al gore, annan and UNESCO and but we fail to recognize him in his own country..comeon guys
This equitable access policy/quota system of you government will not take us anywhere in malawi, frankly speaking some districts in malawi failed to produce some achievers if we are to be very strict with colour, you ended up choosing foreigners at TVM AWARDS yestreday.you simply wanted to balance up regions instead of using merit.what do you say of denza achiever, chikwawa achiever, jacaranda achiever? these are not real malawians but simply pirates of our land.shameless TVM and machende BINGU!!!!!
Where does Bineth trust get the money?
Ok,
In Malawi things are handled carelessly.
I believe Bineth Trust is operating as an NGO whose funding is earmarked for real beneficiaries not as an expense in organising activities like this.
If I were a donor I could have been offended to see my funding going to fund these type of event.
These type of events if we are saying are for the public, should not originate from institutions like TVM or MBC. These events should be owned by ministries and these instutions should just implement.
The way TVM has done this event need re assessment the idea is just a twist from entertainers of the year. Entertainers of the year was good but the approach was bad and it affected continuity, where is it now.
I strongly advise Bingu to revamp the following ministries as they are just names but doing nothing, ministry which deals with culture, for sure it is very shamefull to our nation to see all curtural awards going to people who have utilised the weaknesses we have in our ministry of culture to come up with cultural centres within Malawi whilst the minisrty itself has non.
We have been pushing for cultural policy through which arts council was to be formulated and all the arts associations be equiped but alas, the cabinet is just sitting on it.
To me its a big joke to see these so called awards , these are coming from people who think of today not the future.
Cultural Policy first not these bubble gum activities.
At least we have managed to see for ourselves Bingu`s girlfriend.
Koma Moya pano nde wavutatu akutitu we shud dream in colour kaya nde mitunduyo tiziyiwona bwanji ndima black out.
