DSC_0109President Bingu wa Muthrika’s daughter Duwa and her newly found husband Zimbabwean born Tonderai Mubaira have narrated how they met to become lovers then a marriage couple.

The two have narrated the story in exclusive interview with their newspaper called The Guardian.

Duwa has told the paper that her sister Tapiwa was the one who found the husband for her.

She says Tapiwa came home one day and told her “I have found you a nice man who will marry you so that you can stop crying and find new happiness.”

“Tapiwa knew Tonderai through Ethel Mutharika foundation, they had been working together organizing Foundation activities most probably the Memorial show which we had, that is where things started.

“When Tapiwa first met him, she came home smiling and told me, I have found you a husband,” she says.

Duwa adds: “I couldn’t wait to meet this man, I couldn’t wait.”

“When I met him I found out that I had first seen him at my friend Mariah’s braii where I fell in love with him, I couldn’t keep my eyes off him. After that everything fell into rhythm,” she says in the story.

On his part Tonderai said he was feeling intimidated at first but “I had taken my time making sure that this was all I wanted and it was what I really wanted.

“Just wanted her so much and I couldn’t keep away from it,” he said.

He said he stole one of her rings to study what kind of rings she admires.

“I went to Zimbabwe where I got an 18 gold carat and 1.5 diamond ring. It was all planned so well. Then I purchased some flowers from Crystal Florists, got my video camera and asked my good friend Rodney to escort me to her office,” he said.

How did the proposal go: “I went down on my knees and begged her to be mine, forever.”

Duwa said: “I was speechless when he bent his knees on me asking for marriage, the only word that came to my mind was yes!”
