Muluzi taken back to hospital after health scare
Malawi’s former president Bakili Muluzi was taken back to hospital in the South Africa’s Cape Town clinic Thursday night after a health emergency, personal physician Dr George Nga Mtafu has confirmed.
Speaking in a telephone interview from Stellenbosch Clinic where Muluzi, 62, is admitted, Mtafu said the former Malawi leader appeared to have suffered muscle pains in the lumber disc where he was operated on.
“The former president Dr Muluzi has been hospitalised. He had high fever of 39 degrees and suffered muscle pains in the lumber area,” said Mtafu.
“He also had stiff neck. Doctors had to put him on drips all night long,” said Mtafu.
“He is still in hospital and he is going to stay in hospital for more days,” said the personal physician a former minister of health in Malawi.
Mtafu added: “It looks it was an acute problem.”
He, however, pointed out that the doctors attending to Muluzi are happy with progress he has made so far and his condition remains stable.
