Malawi’s gospel musician Allan Ngumuya who has returned home after spending 12 years in the US says he plans to set-up a TV station.

Ngumuya said his plans will meteralise should Malawi Communication Regulatory Authority (Macra) approve his application.

“I had a dream and my dream was that that one day I might own a TV station so I have followed all procedures of applying a TV licence,” he told Capital FM radio Straight Talk programme on Thursday evening.

“Basically, I will do gospel programmes and I will base on civic education just to help our country,” he said.

Ngumuya said his media house will be called ‘Sunrise television station’.

He said the name depicts the development that  Malawi has attained since independence 46 years ago.

“The country is brighter than before,” he said in apparent reference to support of flag change.

“My opinion is why we should stick to the old one too. The country has developed so I see no problem of changing a flag,” he said on the flag change.

Ngumuya said while in the US, he earned a degree in Broadcasting and Television from Ivy Tech College, a second degree in Applied Science Business Administration from Davenport University and he recently completed a Masters Degree in Communication from Purdue University.

Straight Talk presenter Brian Banda asked the gospel artist to comment on  rumours that his marriage has been on rocks. Ngumuya dispelled the rumours saying his wife has been with him solidly.

“I have heard those rumours but we just move with times, rumours shall always fade away, the truth shall prevail. My progress, my success lies in her hands. My success is lying in her hands. She has been the driver and I give her credit for that,” said the artist.

He also disclosed that he plans to hold a show month end of August.

Well said. The attitude of Osusa Constantly is one of envy & jealousy of a fellow brethren. This is the attitude of not wishing the betterment for fellow Malawians. Osusa is an idiot. The more media stations is better for the future of Malawi in terms of more exposure and experience for the future generation of Malawians who, will hopefully benefit with Malawi that has more opportunities to offer.

Am glad 2 hear and see th@ their is such a tremendous development coming 2 my country. However it is my only hope and prayer th@ the malawi leadership will not try to block or bend down such a dream by one of our own sons.I urge the leadership and the nation as a whole to come together(in full support) and not trying 2 politicise this kind of development, otherwise thats gonna only potray the signs of jelousy, ignorance and brutality.I urge our President that as much as i understand the politics of our country he shud no matter wh@ promote and encourage such significant achievements by its proud citizens.Last but not the list i urge my fellow citizens 2 please bring in positive and constructive ideas ,comments or opinions 4 the benefit of our own country’s ecomic progress!God bless Malawi and God bless Africa.
