madonna and cjA documentary programme broadcast on British TV, Channel 4 has linked the growth of mystic Kabballah faith in Malawi to Raising Malawi charity co-founded by Queen of Pop Madonna and Micheal Berg, the co-director of the Kabbalah Centre.

The documentary by journalist Jacques Peretti – Madonna and Mercy: What really happened – broadcast on Monday night attempts to unravel the tangle of secrecy and Kabbalah strings attached to adoptions of Madonna of Malawian children and the charity.

Peretti who featured Malawi journalist Mabvuto Banda and translator Vitima Ndovi describes Rising Malawi  as “Trojan horse for the Kabbalah takeover of a poor African state.”

Banda also raised suspicion on Raising Malawi and the links with the Kabbalah movement.

“Kabbalah has been training a lot of Malawians to be trainers of trainers,” said Banda.

He said a number of Malawian teachers went for a Kabbalah induction in America and to train on educational and moral programme called Spirituality for Kids (SFK) that it wants to roll out across Malawi as a Kabbalah programme.

“This is what raises suspicion on Raising Malawi,” said Banda.

In the programme, Madonna is shown explaining in her promotional film about her work in Malawi that SFK is about “karma”.

“In Kabbalah we learn that if we want something we have to give something,” said Madonna.

Kabballah movement is said to be pumping money to schools and orphanages for their “loony religion”.

Malawi is officially a secular state. Christianity is the largest faith followed by Islam. However, the country’s constitution guarantees freedom of religion.

Kabbalah remains a mystical spiritual teaching.

In the documentary, Channel 4 reporter interviewed  Spirituality For Kids’ director Philippe van den Bossche outside Malawi’s High Court in Blantyre but  he was tight lipped.

“Excuse me, are you Mr. Van Der Bossche? I wonder if you would mind telling me what you are doing here?” Peretti asked Bossche

”I was just admiring what a beautiful sunny day it is here in Malawi,” he replied.

”It is indeed. But I’d like to talk to you about what Raising Malawi is really up to here,” pressed the British  journalist.

”And I’d rather talk about what a beautiful sunny day it is,” tight lipped Kabbalah boss said.

There is little information available on Bossche who mentioned on his Facebook site that one of his best friends is Philip Berg, the founder of Kabbalah in the US.

Channel 4 journalist described him as a “Smooth operator”.

In an interview with spokesman for  Ministry of Women and Children, Silas Jeke  in the documentary on the links of Kabbalah, he also kept his comments close to the chest.

Jeke also refused to be drawn to comment on assertion that Madonna managed to adopt David Banda though she was not resident of Malawi for 18 months as stipulated by the laws.

“That’s not really my area,” he said. “I believe the appropriate procedures were followed.”

Madonna was allowed to adopt Chifundo ‘Mercy’ James from Malawi on June 12 after the Supreme Court overturned the High Court ruling in April.

Judges had previously said she could not adopt because she was not a resident.

She first adopted David Banda in the country in 2006.

The two have since joined the Kabbalah.

Who is this perretti making decisions for Malawians. There are religions in Malawi linked to Bin Laden who believes is suicide bombs but they are thriving. So what’s wrong with Madonna who is helping a poor malawian girl to have a better future and donating a big sum for a good cause which your politicians have failed all this time…only thinking of looting whatever they lay their hands on.Madonna kumeneko ndiye kubwera.Religion religion what??? All those faiths in Malawi were brought by a whiteman telling you kuti zagule zanuzo is sinful, kaya chisumphi, kaya mbona brainwashing you all nyasas. They are not forcing you to join Kaballah.Madonna never said that she will force every malawian to join kaballah.Musiyeni Mercy azimwa madzi amubotolo ndipo kayamba kale kuoneka bwino kamwanaka.I will meet her in New York.Good bless America…land of many opportunities.

I think the government spokesperson Mr. Jeke in the Ministry of Women and Children didnt know what he was talking about. I could see that the Channel4 TV journalist was laughing or mocking Jeke coz Jeke was failing to disseminate the information professionally. Jeke was just laughing uncontrollably without giving convincing facts to defend Muntharikas government. Bossche is another person who doesnt know what role Kabbalah is playing in Malawi. He just wanted to frustrate the channel4 journalist Peretti. Madonna is doing a tremendous job in Malawi which cant go without being recognized. There is nothing wrong to see Kaballah roots growing in Malawi but only if it improves the social welfare of neglected orphans or the needy Malawians.

  4. Ndugu Ackim says:

Someone commented that in Kabballah, the followers believe in something mystical, while in other religions, the followers believe in God?

Can someone school me in the difference of these 2 train of thoughts plz???

I do not see any problem with linking Kabballah and RaisingMAlawi. How did christianity and islam spread in Africa? The missionaries brought education, some form of trade(salt and clothing) in addition to their religion. The same with Islam. I know of many churches in Malawi that have sprung out because those native malawians spearheading the growth of the churches have benefited somewhat from outside institutions. People receive kaunjika to distribute to their flock as one way of enticing them to become and continue being members. I do not see anything wrong with that. The british journalist making the porogramme has a different take of life than most Malawians. He i should think does not have any faith, so anything to that effect is perceived differently.
His take on malawian life is translated to him and some of the messages could have been lost in translation!!!!!

  6. GEORGE says:

Boy am I glad this is finally out in the media, those of us who ’sniffed’ long time ago about the link between Raising Malawi, adopting Malawian orphans and Kabalah were not believed.

  7. TIYA says:

I don’t think there is an issue here to give us headache, let those who want to join kabballah do so those who don’t want stay away, please leave Madona alone, which religion is genuine and true if i may ask?

  8. nzika yachimalawi says:

Tiya leave these hypocrites…Cash ya Madonna ndi madzi amubotolo akumwa mercy awapweteka mtima kwabasi?????Iwowo anasiya mbona, chisumphi wawo chifukwa chadyera ndi kutenga zipembezo zobwera ndi angelezi…so whats wrong with madonna? .Madonna is not forcing anybody to join kaballah..ankhutukumve inu….

  9. limonga says:

If that is the case, then bring back our children. I worship what we do not know.
