Ntcheu_Accident_head_onIt took about two three hours to clear the road to allow other vehicles to proceed to Lilongwe or Blantyre after a terrible accident last Sunday afternoon near the Total Filling Station at Ntcheu Boma when two trucks and a small van clashed head on, killing two people in the process.

Truck Reg. No BK 3036 belonging to R.Gaffar carrying tobacco to Blantyre clashed with another one for M.A.E.R. Trucking company, Reg. No. SA 6371 carrying cement to Lilongwe and a small Madza Van BK 8661 which was also headed for Lilongwe.

Onlookers helped police, led by Sub Inspector Mike Mvula to save the life of the M.A.E.R truck driver who was trapped inside his cabin.

I totally agree by the inputs of putting traffic roads signs. We can use cement to put the signs. Now we have seen electric poles made from cement let us be innovative, try it, and assess. Who can make nkhasu from cement. Please put as many signs as possible. We can not afford to lose more lives. But we heard that the problem was not about signs most comments are general

  2. Bob says:

I suggest that the police should bring speed traps at Ntheu boma immidiatly. this is no the only accident that has happened. ask NU police for statistics. you will be shocked. About telling educating us on Grammer on the net, I personally think its not a bad idea, but to me what matters is whether I have grabed the meaning of the sentence. So arfred keep trying may be yuo will convince a few but as for me you may as well be reminded that yuo made so many mistakes speaking your venacular language today than father Bush of Mua mission who is German.

  3. Kho says:

Ndinu abwana kapena tinene kuti ngwazi ya Chingelezi.Mulimbikire, mmawa mubwerenso ndi ka lesson kena kaya mumatero! apatu mutotithandiza. Mfumu eee! musabwerere pambwiyo. Iwo hakaziwa kuti izi zimatowerengedwa ndi anthu ambiri.

  6. francis says:

    come on Alfred..
talk about the accident and what you think it can help
nothing you said over there makes sense.

i don’t know that area aswell but i think speed limit is the best solution. we all knw speed kills so if the speed is killed accidents like that prevented.

so now talk about the accident.. not “what he said”

    • Alfred says:

I can talk about ‘the’ accident now because both me and Francis know about it now.

A lot of comments are bang on the money here. Firstly, my deepest sympathy goes to the families who have lost loved ones. I am very familiar with the area where the accident happened and I think most of the accidents that have happended before and I guess including this one are preventable. However, this is just a talk shop, no decisions are made here, but we need to make a strong appeal to the people who make these very important decisions. One way of doing this would be to contact the local MP (has he got a website/facebookpage/mobile number/twitter account/email etc) I know he probably has a 4 x4, telling him what we think should be done to stop these accidents (the very things we are suggesting). He should then put pressure on the relevant authorities following the right procedure for doing this. The Uk a zillion times more traffis than Malawi but the roads are some of the safest in the whole world. India on the other hand experiences a road accident every second (I am guessing). Why is this? to pass a driving test in the UK you have to prove not that you can drive a car but that you are a safe driver. In Malalawi we test people on whether they can drive or not which is missing the point, no wonder we have a lot of accidents. A safe driver will never speed in a built up area/trading centre. Admittedly, there is more we can do about this and ther is need for a seroiuos mind shoering session to come up with suggested to solutions to this real problem.

  7. John Gibson Mandimba says:

Amalawi kuthamangitsa galimoto kobasi. I had a friend of mine who visited me here in England he was loughing at me when i could not reach 90MPH cause it was too fast to death. And he replied by saying we do white line in Malawi, i said whats that? he said driving in the middle of the road with the white line being the devider of on coming vehicles and his. I felt really sick thinking of the conditions of the roads in Malawi. Becarefull gents we only live once in the world.

  8. CHILUNGAMO says:

Guys have you noticed? Ma truck a bwana Gaffar ambiri ndi akutha sungayende kupita ku BT kapena MZ osapeza 3 or more ali pa break down. Atha anthu mkulu ameneyu tikamusiyilira.

  9. M'malawi wopanda tsankho says:

The road safety council should be checking most cars if they are roadworthy.Vuto lakumalawi kuyendetsa galimoto munthu ataledzera..and you expect ngozi kusachitika.Impose a heavy fine for these drunkards on the steering wheel and you will see how accidents are going to be reduced on the road.Paja chilichonse timangothamangira kuti pa ntcheu pali satanic kwambiri..lame excuses.

  10. Che Bandawe Misheck says:

This is very sad, the truck that caused the accident had run out of pressure for breaks, not what you are saying. The only solution to this problem is to improve the breaking system for the trucks because mpweya ukatha, there is nothing a driver can do.

Stop talking no sense please!!!! palibe munthu amafuna kuchitangozi aliyense moyo amaufuna.
