New dancehall artists ‘Nes Nes’ gaining airplay in Malawi radios

The Prime Time Media signed artist NesNes is becoming a household name with his two monster hit singles, Wina Watenga and Chidodo gaining airplay in urban music radio shows.

Monitored on MBC radio 2’s Top 40 weekly Countdown, which is broadcast every Wednesday, Wina Watenga is on position 16 whilst Chidodo, which also a club banger, is on position 35.

The Lilongwe based artist according to his manager, Edward Kankhomba, will be shooting Wina Watenga video soon.

Kankhomba, who is also Prime Time lead consultant, said  that NesNes is one rare talented artist who can jump on any beat and this is evidenced from a catalogue of songs he has released hot singles.

“He is a dancehall artist but knows more genres of music,” he said.

Meanwhile, NesNes has just finished recording a collaboration song with a renowned artist, Barry One but Kankhomba refused to shed more light on the single saying they will tell the public when the time is ripe.

“We have just finished recording a collaboration song with renowned artist Barry One and we are planning to shoot a video soon,” said Kankhomba.

Kankhomba said they have always provided a platform for young talented artists to showcase
their talent through their parent institution, 10 plus 10 links, and that they are not in the industry for competition but rather to complement other record labels towards a common goal which is putting a corporate image to the budding music industry.

He said the music industry is presently awash with a lot of young, gifted, unsigned artists that are lacking support and promotion and therefore it is important that record labels work together to unearth this hidden talent.

According to Kankhomba, also known as Wado Eduardo in entertainment circles, NesNes is staging a show at Catholic University called “Invasion CU” on May 3rd 2013 with artists Blakjak, Gwamba, GD and Maovololo on the roster to perfom.

NesNes real name Kelvin Khuzumba is the first artist signed under Prime Time Media, a sister company of 10 plus 10 Links, an arts promotion and development trust targeting young people in the affluent society. It is also the institution behind shows titled U Got Dance Moves and Miss Warm heart of Africa events.

Some of the songs done NesNes include Real Love, My Baby and Palibe Wina among others.
