New Malawi music: Zani Challe drops ‘Ndiphunzitse’

South Africa-based Malawian singer-cum-rapper Zani Challe has finally dropped her first 2015 release titled “Ndiphunzitse”.

It comes out after it was leaked online and found its way on some Malawi radio stations in April and had to be taken down and off air awaiting the official release.

The song is Zani’s second single after her 2014 smash single “Gwada” feat. South African rappers Okmalumkoolkat and Ras.

Unlike her previous music, done in South Africa, “Ndiphunzitse” was wholly produced in Malawi by Sticky Beatz and Pro Pee at Pro Pee Records in Blantyre.

Unexpectedly, the song gets Miss Challe singing 99 percent Chichewa on an Afro Pop beat than her usual English all-Hip Hop style.

It also has an appearance by Malawi’s celebrated Afro Pop singer Dan Lu with his new-found Nigerian feel on it.

“I want to establish myself and build a fan base in my home country. It is important for every artist to have a solid base where they are coming from,” said the 26-year-old who is also an actress and model in South Africa.

Zani is expected to drop the visuals for “Ndiphunzitse”, produced by Sukez, next month.

Born Zani Michelle Chiumia to Malawian parents in Cape Town, Zani lived all through her high school years in Malawi before she returned to South Africa at the age of 18, establishing herself in the showbiz industry as a singer, actress, model, TV presenter, lyricist and recording artist.
