Mayor for Lilongwe City Willie Chapondera has disclosed that the City Council has come up with new plans on the rehabilitation of the Lilongwe Community Centre.
Chapondera said a committee that has been set aside to discus on the matter is yet to meet next week to discuss on the new plans.
“Previously our plan was to maintain the stands and have additional platform at this community ground, we want it to be in a good shape,” said Chapondera in an interview.
The City Mayor, who did not shade more light on the plans, said he has to wait for the meeting that is scheduled to take place next week for the comments.
He said there are different ideas pertaining to the rehabilitation, but one good thing is that the rehabilitation will assist the council in the revenue collection that would assist in financing other projects.
Chapondera said the project it is a great development since the ground has taken many years without being maintained.
Among other things the City Council is going to rehabilitate the ground, the hall, the fence and the toilets just to mention a few.
Public Relations Officer for the City Council, Tamara Chafunya in January 2014; said the Council considered Lilongwe Community Centre ground with the aim of helping the residents around the facility to have a better place to conduct their activities.
