Newest party in Malawi kicks out ‘confusionist’ Humphrey Mvula
Malawi’s newest party, the United Transformation Party says it has kicked out self-styled political strategist Humphrey Mvula from the party, accusing him of being a confusionist.
But Mvula laughed off the matter, saying he has never been a member of yet to be launched UTP.
Acting secretary general of the party, Alex Solanke, said Mvula had been causing confusion in the party by claiming he was owner and founder of the party.
“He has been using divisive tactics, this is why we have decided to expel him from the party,” said Solanke.
However, Mvula said he has never been a member of the United Transformation Party.
“I am a political consultant. Parties hire me for consultancy, that is what I do,” he said.
Mvula was member of the former ruling party, the United Democratic Front where he was former president Bakili Muluzi’s strategist and UDF deputy director of research when George Chaponda was director of research.
He fell out of favourr with the party and joined New Labour Party.
He had a brief stint with the Peoples Party where he was a political consultant but was ditched.
United Transformation Party has suffered injunctions and counter injunctions as members fought for political positions even before the party took off.
We don’t need more parties this time; we need a leader, please!
