Nigeria player’s future at Be Forward Wanderers in question
Mighty Be Forward Wanderers has began a sieving exercise that will see them have only a cream of players that will play for the club this coming season and Nigerian player future remains in question.
The first casualties to face the axe are burly striker Innocent ‘Rooney’ Dzimbiri, midfielder Mayamiko Salamu, defender Willie Magombwa and goalkeeper Alex Matete.
The chopping of Dzimbiri comes just after the club signed a Cameroonian striker Lionel Atsu after he impressed the technical panel.
Supporters’ chairperson for Wanderers, Paul Mphepo confirmed this and said more players will be laid off.
“I can confirm that those players have been laid off because they are not in the coach’s plans,” said Mphepo.
“But I can assure you that the sieving exercise will continue and many more players will be axed because we want a cream,” he added.
Nyasa Times has been reliably informed that Wanderers may not sign Nigerian player James Orash Slopajimu and might be released any time soon.
Dzimbiri has played for Wanderers for at least three seasons. He joined the Lali Lubani road outfit in 2012.
Recently coach Elija Kananji hinted that he would like to recruit quality players and ensure that the team has depth in all departments, saying there is no room for sentiment in the recruitment.
