Speaking on Wednesday at Mpamba after a day long inspection tour, as well as donating 100bags of maize to the victims in Nkhata bay; Minster of Agriculture and Water development, George Chaponda said his ministry will not allow to see the victims suffer twice through the trauma they had gone through as well as suffer the aftermath with hunger.

“We will help you with farm inputs for winter cropping so that we can beef up what has been lost” He said

He further pleaded with general public to take a role in the fight against climate change, whose diverse effect are disturbing citing catastrophic floods which hit the district, by observing conservative strategies in their day to day operations.

Meanwhile, as a way of mitigating the impacts as well as reconnecting the food basket chain the region has lost due to the disaster, the Mzuzu Agricultural Development Division (MZADD), has embarked of a major resilience programme, in which it is distributing cassava and sweet potato cuttings to victims and potential farmers in all the EPAs in the Agricultural region.
