Ntopwa charged with multiple offences committed during FMB U-20 League finals
FMB Under 20 National Youth Football League Finalist’s Ntopwa Super Boys have been charged with various offences by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM).
The charges includes assaulting the officiating team, late arrival at the match venue as well as shunning the prize presentation of the cup final.
Ntopwa players allegedly attacked and assaulted the officiating personnel towards the end of the match after they were denied what they believe could have been a genuine penalty.
This forced the referees to run for dear lives forcing the match into abandonment for some minutes before resumption following thorough consultations between the referees, members from FMB Bank who sponsors the league including club officials.
After the match Ntopwa players went further to shun the prize presentation ceremony in full view of the sponsors but there coach Enos Chatama paraded to the VIP to receive the medals.
The team has been given 48 hours to respond to charges leveled against them.
Club owner Isaac Jomo Osman confirmed receiving the charge sheet from Malawi FA.
Osman said he received the letter on Wednesday at around 5pm.
According to Osman, they are yet to respond to the charges.
He admitted thats some of the charges are genuine while the others are a share blame.
All this is happening after the team through the owner and coach Chatama apologised to the sponsors and FA.
Silver Reserves were crowned 2016 FMB Under 20 Champions following a 1-0 victory over Ntopwa.
