Nyasa Bullets move from position 9 to 6 of Malawi TNM Super League
TNM Super League Defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets have leapfrogged from position nine to 6th after beating leaders Silver Strikers 2-1 at Kamuzu Stadium Stadium.
Going into the match, the 2016 Presidential Cup champions — who beat rookies MTV Max Bullets 5-1 in their midweek assignment last Wednesday at Kamuzu Stadium with two goals from Chikuepo Msowoya and one each from Fischer Kondowe, McFarlen Mgwira and Mussah Manyenje, now have 22 points from 12 games.
They are now seven points behind the leaders Silver with an added advantage of two games in hand.
Silver Strikers beat Max Bullets 3-0 at Kalulu on Saturday to amass 29 points and could have been in a good driving seat if they had beaten Bullets the next day in which they took the lead through Matthews Sibale in the 27th minute only for the bullets to earn a penalty in the 59th and successfully converted by Chiukepo Msowoya.
Substitute Divason Mlozi scored the winner in the 77th minute.
Blue Eagles displaced Mafco on position two after beating Mighty Be Forward Wanderers 2-1 also at Kamuzu Stadium. The Cops have 28 points from 13 games and their next assignment is against Big Bullets this weekend.
Wanderers, who have 20 points from 12 games, have been pushed from position seven last weekend to nine as they prepare for their next assignment against Kamuzu Barracks on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium.
Moyale beat Wizards FC 2-0 on Sunday at Mzuzu Stadium to move from position to four while Mzuni FC beat Wizards 1-0 on Saturday at the same venue. Mzuni moved from position six to five.
So, the title campaign is still open with Silver Strikers at the top with 29 points from 14 games, Blue Eagles second at 28 from 13, Mafco third at 25 from 13, Moyale 4th at 24 from 14, Mzuni 5th at 24 from 14 and Bullets 6th at 22 from 14.
There was some movement at the bottom between the strugglers — Dwangwa United and Karonga United — who drew 1-1 at Chitowe for Karonga to displace Dwangwa from position 15 to 14.
Karonga United have eight points from 14 games of one win (over defending champions Big Bullets some four weeks ago), five draws and eight losses. They have only scored seven goals and conceded 26.
Dwangwa have seven points from 13 games of one win, four draws eight losses in which they have scored just nine goals and conceded 21.
