Speaking after being inducted in Blantyre last week, Mulwafu said her vision for the year she will be in charge is to resurrect the Scholarship Fund which will help needy students get education.

“My flagship project this year is to resurrect the Scholarship Fund. I believe there are many outstanding individuals in our society that are looking for an opportunity to get an education and make something of their lives.”

“How many of us can reflect on our own lives and think about the times we were given the opportunity to be better? Have we done the same for others? Is there more we could do?” said Mulwafu.

She said with the Scholarship Fund, they will work with corporate organisations to sponsor undergraduate students at university level and will in turn link and work with the Deans of Students in universities to help identify needy students requiring support.

“These individuals could in turn be the young apprentice in those office corridors or that intern who understands the value of hard work because someone believed in them. Ladies and gentlemen of the corporate world, I invite you to invest in our youth,” said Mulwafu.

She said during her five years as a Rotarian, she has learnt about the ideals of service above self.

“Being a part of a collective team that takes time out to assist the communities that we live in, can be truly life changing,” said Mulwafu.

Outgoing President Chafumuka wished Mulwafu well and said he has belief that she will do well during her presidency.
