Watch Out Malawians! Our Police Are Shooting On Sight!]

image

As with most victims of high-speed car chases, the family of Yusuf Abdullah [May His Soul Rest In Piece] never thought it would happen to them. Yet, every day in our country, another family member comes to terms with what the Abdullah family is experiencing now as one of their own was ripped away from their lives, by a coldhearted Police Force that only knows extortion and terror: high-speed police chases kill.

Although the 997 Police do not want to characterize the incident as a fatal chase, any pursuit expert will agree that as along as the police were actively going after Yusuf Abdullah with live bullets being shot at the truck, then that constitutes a fatal chase.

The question is: would this crash and ultimate fatalities have happened regardless? I think yes. In most cases, victims of hot pursuits like the one in Ntchesi are innocent people who were going about the business of earning an honest living just as Yusuf Abdullah was doing.

Again, the Police were indulging in the usual terrorist pastime-recklessness and roadblock extortion.  The actions of our heavily politicized Police have lately been largely humiliating in implementation and hostile to the horizon.

The issue should not be the cause of death only, as it will be determined by the pathologist, but we should also look at why the Police in all honesty thought, they could engage in a Formula 1 car chase, in a heavily populated city like Lilongwe

The 997 Police pretty well know that places like Ntchesi are always a beehive of activity so that any high-speed chase would be both suicidal and homicidal.  To conjure that the Police were shooting at the truck in Ntchesi where anything goes at any time, as people and other vehicles are always going in all directions is beyond the fence.

In a setting like that one the scary probability of innocent people being hit by stray bullets, should be enough to force any responsible police to hold their fire.  Malawi is not Navajo Joe Land.  Likewise, when deadly chases occur in real life, the Police think that they have no business to take responsibility, and even the families just like the public have to rely heavily on doggy law enforcement public relation officials to give them information about the pursuits.

It is very sad that the trigger-happy and extortionist 997 Police who engaged in the car chase in Lilongwe in, which they killed the driver of the truck Yusuf Abdullah, are refusing to take responsibility of their barbaric actions. This is insane for our Police are renowned for their highhandedness and chronic begging.

What is ironic about the, 997 Police Officers is that they did not have as part of their practical courses or training, specialized vehicles and simulators designed to replicate the roadway and tactical situations to which they are being exposed now.

Officers should have access to the highest-quality training the Police Force is able to customize.  From their haughty actions one can tell they don’t even know, which vehicles in the Police Department’s “Armada” have been designed and authorized for high-speed crisis vehicle operations, as well as under what surroundings they may be used.

Driving simulators and episodic reminder training should be available, so that Police personnel can continue right through their careers as adept in tracking down pursuits as in using firearms.  Both are high jeopardy, low incidence activities that can affect the Police Force in abundant compliments, especially when tracking downs go out of kilter.

In addition, because of the brainless actions that abbreviated and fatally terminated the life of Yusuf Abdullah, the Police top dogs must revisit their training programs so that this kind of lunacy does not recur. They may also wish to overhaul their syllabus on Evidence, Ballistics and Forensic Investigations so that to responds to the demands of the modern world.

The summary dismissal of Yusuf Abdullah’s death by our Police is creating awkward elevator moments to decent Malawians.  Incidentally, this is not the first time that the police have arrogantly shirked, responsibility after they have killed an innocent victim of a high-speed pursuit.

Most of them behave as if they are convalescing from forced sodomy.  They are always sullen and spiteful.  Families of victims of high-speed chases share stories of how the Police harassed them and sometimes ridiculed them with senseless answers.  The Police do this on purpose because they do not want to engage the issues shoulder high. They would rather shoot from the hip like Cowboys from the Wild West.

Much as at funerals of victims of Police violence, the outpouring of love and support from the public is very comforting. We honestly expect to see Police Officers in numbers, but nothing of that sort happens. No big wigs from the Police show up to commiserate with the bereaved families.  To them it is business as usual.

In count, they say our Police are reformed.  You heard it right.

I hear Mutharika has ordered the DPP’s Office to prosecute the shooter in the fatal hot pursuit.  I will hand it to him with grace.  Good Job for waking up on the right side of the stone.

It is sad that a life was lost. The Police could have been wrong in shooting to kill, but the big question remains: WHY WAS THE VICTIM RUNNING AWAY FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENTS (WHO HAPPEN TO BE THE POLICE IN THIS CASE)???

If any citizen is required to submit evidence to Law Enforcement Agents, this must be done without remorse. Why should * fail to submit to the Police when * know * am innoncent??? * am sure the current Police in Malawi are not as bad as the terrible special wing under the former Malawi Young Pioneers.

What is it that our dear police men think they are up to? We are now more than afraid of those who are supposed to protect us. Can we ever believe in them anymore? If yes why when all we hear is them in such scandals such as this recent one.

Lets treasure one life like God'* handwork. Though shall not kill. Imagine kids without a father, a day light widow coz one police man in his senses decided to kill an innocent driver. shame and so sad. However hard the police will try to cover this, the killer will stand before God and answer this. Tipheni, inuyo mukhale ndi moyo wautali. Ana anu adzisangalala mukamachokera kuntchito kumakulandirani monyadira. Ife tikhala amasiye chifukwa cha inu. God bless the killer

* always believe that there are some good men/women in our police force but their efforts are always overshadowed by some individuals who believe that being police officers are above the law. It is sad that for a long time our police service has suffered an image problem. For some people the first thing that comes to mind when they see a police officer is CORRUPTION. We think our police is so corrupt that for them to do a job they were employed to do they have to be bribed. This image unfortunately has been created by them (police) such that when you accuse a police officer of soliciting bribes people will believe you even if it is a false accusation. Our police has lost its authority such that the only way they can exert it is by using force and intimidation. * do not even believe their are strong procudures on how and when a police officer can use a fire arm. There are many innocent people who have been killed by our overzealous police officers and it seems they have not learnt any lesson from those incidents. Unless people are made to be responsible for thier actions these brutal murders will continue. They have to think twice before they pull a trigger. And our police should work so hard to change their image. There many people who would want to join our police force, but they get discouraged by the negative image associated by it

Not too surprised, to sum it up, "Kusazindikira a Polisi athu". * do conquer with the writer, our Police needs exposure to up-to-date training. They behave like thugs. * remember being asked for money at a roadblock, what a disgrace!

We are sorry since life has been lost. But Malawians, let'* wake up and see how we can assist the Police. When the police follow us, let'* give the information where necessary and not run. If the truck driver was innocent why was he running away. Assuming he did something criminal and the police failed to catch him in the chase, its us the community who would have blamed the police that they don'* know their duty. If we are true citizens, then let'* report any illegal dealings to the police. With that the police will be investigating based on the tips and not mere suspicions. Police can not be reformed if the citizens are unreformed and irresponsible. All of us, police or community must have a duty to ensure law and order in the country. Let us join hands in combating crime in our country. APOLISI NDI ABALE ATHU, TIZAWAFUNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thumbs up for His Excellency for making it possible that these ruthless killers must face their own law they are trying to safeguard. The local community now lives in deep fears as who will their next victim will be. Will it be myself, my brother, my sister, my son, my daughter or cousin. Let these people come to the realisation that we will not keep silent on such acts. As it is written an eye for an eye, so shall the recompese be to these people. If its because they are underpaid then thats not our fault. * believe life is always what you make. After all we make different choices of carreers, so they made on their heart that their job will satisfy their lifetime economic desires. Let them be prosecuted in public so that we should be satisfied. Otherwise these guys always cover their acts to the public. * will be happily attending court sessions of this case and not only this there are many. So His Excellency keep up with the good job well started.
