Adios Chilumpha! From “Big-Charlie” To “Sloppy-Joe?”
Once again, Nyasa Times with their investigative serene and impeccable pacing have settled for another blockbuster in their outing of the Chilumpha defection to the declining DPP. This is not so gentle a reminder to all dogs and donkeys of politics that they can both pull the same wagon. Something must give. Likewise, it has in this instance.
Doubtless, the DPP have acquired, for the last time and most likely, not further than May 2009, a man and personality who has become a home-grown pictogram of political inertia or idleness accompanied by the blizzard or whiteout of half-cooked DPP buddies who can never see anything beyond their nostrils.
Chilumpha has also delivered a very unrestricted and possibly irritating raspberry in the bearing of the likes of Kennedy Makwangwala, who did everything to suggest it was purely a matter of time before Chilumpha lost his political petticoat after he was humiliated at the UDF convention.
True, in simple yet eloquent style, Chilumpha through his giddy actions has been portrayed as the arc of complicated political romanticism, from infatuation by his UDF cohorts to betrayal of his underwriter, the hard-hitting Big Sam Mpasu who he has never visited at Prison where he is doing the beans for the Fieldyork “outrage”.
What one can say about the Chilumpha defection to the DPP is that, it is a ridiculously, loosely woven scarecrow attempt, and judgment dysfunction that only confirms the speculation that the treason charges leveled against him might be true.
It would not be off the beam to assume that Matumula went hunting for snipers, no? Anyone who has spent their intellectual august trying to delve into the intrigue surrounding this case will agree that Chilumpha’s actions defy the laws of starched legal decorum.
For in this sequel or development the accuser and the accused are trying desperately to position themselves strategically to look innocent while groaning under the weight of mountains of hypocrisy, innuendo and utter churlishness.
Shall we say this is an unexpected but disgraceful twist of political allegiance revealed only in the shadows of vengeance as the protagonists return to familiar territory? Is this the politics of narcissism? Understandably, MCP’s MP Mbowani must be cursing his act of benevolence that made him advocate for the termination of the treason charges against Chilumpha in Parliament.
Definitely, Chilumpha knows that the Opposition and not Lameck Nembo have been agitating for his release and for him to behave in this suicidal and ungrateful manner is perplexing. The best Chilumpha can do for his followers and sympathizers, is to come in the open and declare his position before they put the soapbox away.
What is more, his unpalatable tendency to use other people to push his envelope is outdated and counterproductive. Since we live in a world of accountability and transparency it is only appropriate for our leaders for once to show some decency in the way they conduct political matters. This is not the best behavior from a sitting Vice President. Chilumpha is getting away with a fender bender! To many people though, this looks like a thumping fall from a “Big Charlie” to a “Sloppy Joe”.
Do we see a Dr. Jekyll and Dr. Hyde here? Is it not comical and chimerical that Chilumpha, who happens to be a professional lawyer, finds it normal to fall from the Vice Presidency dais to being a mere Member of Parliament? What ambition is that?
Well, in his usual reticent manner, Chilumpha has decided to mine the deviations of political suaveness and impiety again. He may wish to abandon his shell and see if he can use his lyrical communication skills to bait us into the sultry air of multiparty democracy, the crystalline beauty of a politician who can engage with dexterity and construct his image through fragments of poetical moments as if we cannot see linear experience.
I still remember Chilumpha when he was at his peak as a UDF publicist who rendered great snapshots that described the unsavory reputation of the Banda regime in its proper perspective, and told the irksome and heart yanking stories about the seemingly impossible crimes that one dictator and his cronies could commit against his fellow human beings.
He was masterfully drawn, and his interest in promoting the tenets of democracy in the then depraved country was outspoken considering all he endured as a freedom fighter. This is the man who always hit the mark dead on as he always moved the political mark quickly to the advantage of the Opposition then, through enthralling diction and ideological leaps forward in time.
He couched everything brilliantly in his computer like mind as he prompted a political discussion group standard. He did everything the way he did it best and that is why it is so devastating to his admirers to learn that he has decided to create a negative responsorial vignette to the good will people showed towards him in time of need.
The truth is copyright: Chilumpha’s actions can be described in one line. This is an illustration of his moral dissolution-the zenith of sublimated jealousies suddenly exploding into the open. Of course, we will miss his masterful control of issues; particularly in the sure-handed and compassionate manner, he dismissed Mutharika’s defection from the UDF.

Tell us what is in UDF for Chilumpha to maintain his loyalty?
Next to leave will be Mpasu when he has served his time. UDF never mentions him anymore.
Goodluck like Chenji golo. Watch your goal posts.
Everybody can lie or cheat to the poor the way he/she likes.
Chilumpha is just exercising his rights of being a politician like any other politician does. So please do not judge him just leave him alone.
Be sure of your facts. What is the source of your information? If it is a newspaper or a magazine, are you sure that the information hasn'* been "slanted" to agree with that publication'* political bias? Where crucial facts are concerned, it is best to check with more than one source.
Innuendo: Innuendo is saying something pejorative about your opponent without coming right out and saying it but by making more or less veiled allusions to some circumstance, rumor, or popular belief.
Clarity: Avoid use of terms which can be interpreted differently by different readers. A fender bender is a minor accident that generally causes minor damage to the vehicles involved.

Need * say more?
* like you Kaka that way. The only third party who can interpret your actions best is GOD Himself. * really admire you Kaka.
Out of your tranquility you have achieved a lot. Which lawyer of the modern age or anyone who has attended some sounding business administration courses can claim not to have read your "Company Law" book? * know that when you are silent to the public, you are not silent in the mind. You are always thinking what next to offer the public.
For those who have nothing to offer to the world will always think you are a failure but gosh! They have it wrong. You might look a failure in politics but you are a great man. You do your things after giving them a thorough thought.
Do not be like your political colleagues who cannot find anything to do after political life. And what they think of doing is to force the constitution to bring them back.
* do not blame you Kaka, * know that you have given your move enough thought. ALL THE BEST KAKA!!!
The guy will remain an asset for the nation. Don'* forget his role in the FDC and now he knows what is good for the nation. More fire KAKA.

First off, Chasenthalo Senior stated that * do not sound like a schooled scouser (My name is Scouser so it starts with a capital “*”). That is preposterous as it is laughable coming from a man who can not even spell linguistic (check your comments) or may be “liguistic” is a new word that * do not know that is why you want me to wake up to the new age demands of language and comprehension? Huh?
By stating that interpretation and comprehension are subjective you are agreeing with what * wrote: “Clarity: Avoid use of terms which can be interpreted differently by different readers.” You stated that “fender bender” had been used figuratively and as an embellishment. * think that is just your opinion unless you are Ganda. IMO (In My Opinion), Ganda just juxtaposes phrases from this book, that book, this blog, that blog…..
Most of Ganda’* reports (or is it opinions?) are ignotum per ignotius. * will try to simplify things for you a little bit. Ignotum per ignotius is a Latin phrase. Translation: unknown by means of the more unknown. An explanation that is less clear than the thing to be explained. Do you know anything about Dr. Jekyll and Dr. Hyde? Am sure you do not know so here you go: Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is a novella written by the Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson and first published in 1886. It is about a London lawyer who investigates strange occurrences between his old friend, Dr Henry Jekyll[2], and the misanthropic Edward Hyde. The work is known for its vivid portrayal of the psychopathology of a split personality; in mainstream culture the very phrase "Jekyll and Hyde" has come to mean a person who may show a distinctly different character, or profoundly different behavior (American English), from one situation to the next, as if almost another person, possibly because of the rare disorder "multiple personality disorder" (more recently renamed "Dissociative Identity Disorder").
At any rate, fairness dictates that * leave no stone unturned in an endeavor (American English) as important as explaining the the most fundamental aspect of being a journalist. Journalists do not need to traffic in rumor and innuendo. None of them serve the public if they are in the business of pushing unverified stories into print or on the airwaves just so they can keep up with a rumor that is out of control.
Running with such rumors has far-reaching implications. Just check out last month'* Vanity Fair, where Bryan Burroughs had a great story on the collapse of Bear Stearns. The investment bank'* demise, some conclude, was all a result of baseless rumors suggesting the company had cash problems, even though it was sitting on $18 billion. The rumors kept going and going and when the story hit the airwaves, it spread like wildfire.
In one week, Bear Stearns was no more, and former company executives are still trying to determine what killed the Wall Street behemoth.
We should forget the nonsense about the competitive pressure to break the story.
The rules are simple: Either you have the facts or you don'*. If you do, you run with the story. If you don'*, you leave it alone.
