Parliamentarians go into clusters on K1.3 trillion budget

Parliamentarians will on Tuesday go into clusters as they start debating the K1.3 trillion national budget.

Goodall Gondwe: Presented the budget to House

Finance minister Goodall Gondwe presented the mixed bag budget on Friday.

This means the 193 strong House would now go through the budget with the help of government officials before they return in the chamber in two weeks for vote by vote before passing it.

Some experts and economic commentators have described the budget as a mixed bag.

The government has slashed some taxes on food items including that of milk as probably the result of the continued going down of the inflation.

However, in some cases, the government has introduced taxes on some products and services including pay tv.
